The key to keeping your reptile (or amphibian) healthy is to provide an environment as close as possible to that species natural environment. This needs to include correct temperature range (or gradient), humidity level, light cycle, and landscape. Proper nutrition is also essential. As with all pets, it is important for reptiles to be checked over annually by a veterinarian and this should include faecal testing. Our veterinary clinic is also your best resource if you have questions about your reptile.

Learning how to look after your reptiles before purchasing them is the single best idea that can maintain their health in captivity. Because we keep our own we have a hands-on approach. Nearly all disease problems of captive reptiles can be traced back to faults in housing and management. Some of these problems are nutritional deficiencies, skin conditions, parasitism, reproductive disorders.
We encourage you to contact either of the clinics to receive handouts which can prevent many of these problems.

The best advice we can give is that if you think your pet is unwell ring immediately. We prefer this than you ending up with a very sick, debilitated animal.
